The fantastic HORRORFEST drawcard of THE MAKABRA ENSEMBLE performing a new, original soundtrack to a classsic silent film beneath the big screen has become an institution for this all-encompasing Halloween celebration.
For 2015, the film selected is Nosferatu director F.W. Murnau's amazing FAUST.  This is The Makabra Ensemble's premiere performance of this new soundtrack.

In FAUST the demon Mephisto (Emil Jannings) makes a bet with an archangel that a good man's soul can be corrupted. Mephisto sets his sights on the thoughtful old alchemist Faust (Gösta Ekman), who is desperately trying to save his village from a plague. He is able to help the villagers, thanks to Mephisto, but further dealings with the devil lead Faust on a decadent downward spiral with tragic consequences. Can he redeem his soul before it's too late?

The Makabra Ensemble will breathe new life into this cinematic landmark, the live soundtrack composers & performers consist of members from TERMINATRYX / V.O.D  / A MURDER (Sonja Ruppersberg & Paul Blom), LARK (Simon "Fuzzy" Ratcliffe), classical music genius Matthijs Van Dijk, and standing in for Sean Ou Tim (aka Mr. Sakitumi) is Ronnie Belcher (also from TERMINATRYX as well as THE DAMNED CROWS).
They
utilise a wide range of instruments, voice and effects giving the film a brand new perspective.

While viewers are encouraged to dress up as their favourite monsters (or any ghoulish, freaky costumes & make-up) throughout the HorrorFest's duration, this live soundtrack screening is where the best dressed winner will be selected (incl. prizes).
This same evening the night market will also be in full swing outside the theatre.
