Gilbert & Sullivan's Trial by Jury
Cape Town G&S is excited once again stream Gilbert & Sullivan's hilarious comic opera, Trial by Jury, directed by Alastair Cockburn and accompanied by Helen Broekmann.
The story concerns a "breach of promise of marriage" lawsuit in which the judge and legal system are the objects of lighthearted satire. Gilbert based the libretto of Trial by Jury on an operetta parody that he had written in 1868.
The online streaming of Trial by Jury will be available for ticket holders to watch for one week from 18 October to 25 October, with each ticket providing the purchaser with two opportunities to watch the stream. Viewers can look forward to an evening of fun-filled entertainment, staged by a dynamic and talented cast which includes amongst others the multi-award winning Barend van der Westhuizen (Edwin), Wilhelm Lichtenberg (Plaintiff's Counsel), Simon Speck (The Judge), Karen Wilson-Harris (Angelina), Marius Steyn (Usher), Kerryn Warren (Defendant's Counsel) and Ian Kirkwood (Jury Foreman).
