ABOUT ALIVE DANCE STUDIO
For over 25 years Alive Dance Studio has been a member of the Muizenberg community. The classes that are offered range from Belly Dance, and Martial Arts, to Modern Dance, Afro Fusion, and Ballet. There are classes suitable for young and old, men, women, beginners to intermediate. The studio is a great space for events and is available for hire for performances, workshops, classes,etc.
Every year we hold a concert to showcase the different classes, movement and creativity that occurs within the Studio’s four walls. We look forward to entertaining you and celebrating movement.
ABOUT THE PERFORMERS
, founder and owner of Alive Dance Studio, is a professional belly dancer, teacher and cranio- sacral therapist. Through her teachings, she reminds us of the joy of authentic physical expression during which the communication and knowledge of the body brings to us awareness of self – a more comfortable, healthier, joyous self.
* DIANA OCHOLLA *
is a part-time modern dance teacher and choreographer at Alive Dance Studio. She also attends flamenco classes and performs whenever she can. Most recently she coordinated and performed a movement piece with five other women as a response to Gender-Based Violence, which was titled 'Rise'. * THOLAKELE ANTAMU *
is a poet, princess and performer. I studied performance art and graduated as a professional triple threat performer. I travelled with my one woman show, ‘Exhibit-S, Ode to Saartjie Baartman by a Black South African Woman.’ She is shaped by a unique personal experience of adoption and growing up as a young black woman with white parents, which she also blogs about.
* GITA GALINA *
Dancer, visual artist and street performer. Her original training is in ballet but she is now dancing a mix of ballet, hip hop, and whacking amongst other styles.
* MIA HAVENGA *
is the founder of the band Made In Africa is a multi- hyfinite artist/performer that consists of a soulful combination of jazz, contemporary and indie music. She is an apprentice belly dancer at Alive Dance Studio.
* JOSH PEARLSON *
""I have been playing guitar for 20 years, studied jazz after high school and put a rock band together called After Robot which we toured extensively for 8 years, I have also been a music teacher for 10 years. some notable gigs include Oppikoppi, STRAB, Up The Creek, Inniebos, Rocking For Rhinos, opening for Alien Ant Farm, Saarang festival (Chennai india), I enjoy all music and especially love jam sessions!"
