ABOUT

‘I can’t write without a reader. It’s precisely like a kiss —

you can’t do it alone.’ John Cheever

Following the success of the first two Little Local Launches mini-festivals held in October, we're excited to announce the third LLLF!

A traditional book launch is the first (and sometimes only) moment of connection in which the solitary pursuit of the writer becomes a public celebration with their reader.

The lockdown and COVID has seen many of our wonderful local authors bring their work into the world in silence (or glitchy webinars!) without the joy of being able to connect with the people they’re writing for.

The Little Local Launches Festival aims to rectify that, giving both new authors and those whose books were published during lockdown the chance to launch their books with you, in conversation, and with a complimentary coffee and cupcake at the delightful Sun Room at The Courtyard Café in Kalk Bay.

On Saturday 28 November, we're excited to be hosting...

10h00 – 11h00 Mark Winkler, Due South of Copenhagen

11h30 – 12h30 Mark Gevisser, The Pink Line

14h30 – 15h30 Mia Arderne, Mermaid Fillet

Books will be for sale at the venue, bring your copy to be signed, ask the questions that bubbled up for you from the text, or dive in and meet a new author entirely.

Numbers are strictly limited – only 18 seats per author – and COVID-19 regulations will be in place. Masks will be non-negotiable and the folks at The Courtyard Café will follow all the safety steps you’ve become used to at other restaurants.

Can't wait to see you there!
