Where to from here for SA’s controversial Copyright Amendment Bill?

After President Ramaphosa referred the Bill back to Parliament on the basis of a number of Constitutional reservations, this presentation will provide a high-level overview of Parliament’s further deliberations on the Bill, and also provide some insights on how licensing and commercial dealings with respect to copyright works would be impacted upon if the Bill were to be enacted, as presently worded, or without substantial amendments.

He advises the full spectrum of participants in the creative and copyright industries, including the music, publishing, film, television, animation, audio-visual, dramatic arts and other industries, on rights management and enforcement and content production, commercialization and related deal structuring. 

Stephen presented to Parliament on some of the legal and commercial risks posed by the proposed enactment of the Copyright Amendment Bill, as part of a SAIIPL delegation in August 2017.
