Little Local Launches Festival – Saturday 17 Oct

Sat Oct 17, 10:00 - Sat Oct 17, 14:00

The Sun Room at The Courtyard Cafe

ABOUT

‘I can’t write without a reader. It’s precisely like a kiss —

you can’t do it alone.’ John Cheever

It’s time to reunite readers with their authors and authors with their readers!

A traditional book launch is a single moment of connection in which the solitary pursuit of the writer becomes a public celebration with their reader.

The lockdown saw many of our wonderful local authors bring their work into the world in silence (or glitchy webinars!) without the joy of being able to connect with the people they’re writing for.

We’d like to rectify that.

On 10 and 17 October, a new mini-festival of launches will give those participating authors whose books were published between March and September this year the chance to ‘launch’ their books again – but this time with you, in conversation, and with a complimentary coffee and cupcake at the delightful Sun Room at The Courtyard Café in Kalk Bay.

On Saturday 17 October, we're excited to be hosting...

10h00 – 11h00 Tom Eaton, Is It Me or Is It Getting Hot in Here?

11h30 – 12h30 Patricia Schonstein, The Inn at Helsvlakte

13h00 – 14h00 Pamela Newham, The Boy and the Poacher’s Moon

Books will be for sale at the venue, bring your copy to be signed, ask the questions that bubbled up for you from the text, or dive in and meet a new author entirely.

If this goes well, we’ll be able to extend this mini-festival to upcoming launches.

Numbers are strictly limited – only 18 seats per author – and COVID-19 regulations will be in place. Masks will be non-negotiable and the folks at The Courtyard Café will follow all the safety steps you’ve become used to at other restaurants.

Can't wait to see you there!
