Dear FHS members,

The last few months of 2020 has re-defined how we socialise and how powerful we are when we unite together for one cause. This year we introduce to you the UCT Faculty of Health Science ON-GALA. We believe in the spirit of celebrating all the fantastic things we have done as societies on campus this year and what better way to that than to simultaneously support an amazing project.

This ON-GALA is a major fundraising initiative for the Intensive Love and Care Project based at GSH. Spearheaded by Dr Kay Spender-Barnard (Dept. of Anaesthesia) and Marchelle Lake (private physiotherapist), this project aims to improve the quality of life of COVID-19 survivors by providing simple and effective ways to assist with the long–term effects of prolonged ICU admission.  n. ‘Bundles of Love’ hampers containing toiletries, encouraging messages and snacks are also provided for patients in more critical states. Through the tickets for this online event, we are hoping to raise funds that will be donated to this admirable project.

We have some great activities in store for you including a performance from some students, an art auction, speeches by the 2020 society presidents, society awards and some great prizes to be won. Each society has provided a cocktail recipe for you to make for the event and will be emailed to you after your ticket has been purchased.
