20/20 Entertainment in Containment presents “Dance Dialogue” by Magdalena de Vries

20/20 vision in the year 2020

Biblioteek Productions presents twenty Classical inter-disciplinary online projects of twenty minutes each. Nearly sixty freelance artists from all spheres of the creative and arts industry are involved in this exciting project. These mini-productions will be rolled out each week from 10 July. Join us in this online revolution, where we continue to bring boundary shifting classical music to you.

Dance Dialogue is a collaboration between classical marimbist Magdalena de Vries and visual artist Liza Grobler.

In both disciplines, a lot of movement takes place during the creative process. The artist uses intricate beading, colour and fibre landscapes to create a tangible piece of art. The musician fills space with gentle wooden whispers, playful passages and raw metallic and terracotta tones to create. The rhythm of their movement combining, interacting and ultimately becoming an invisible layer of magic. Three young South African composers were commissioned by De Vries to compose works especially for this production. The composers were requested to write music inspired by movement (dance) with specified inclusion of terracotta pot plant pots and tuned cowbells. In addition to the sonic and visual experience, the audience will witness the world première of Pentatonic Rhapsody by Dawid Boverhoff, Ìkokò by Kayode Ibaiyo and Pendants by Lise Morrison.
