Help the Louwrens Family: Stranded in Mozambique

Our friends, Brandon and Zillah Louwrens (along with their special needs son, Kian) were both hired by a destination guesthouse and eatery in Mozambique in December 2019.

What was suppose to be a promised job opportunity, turned into a nightmare and it seems that this establishment hires South Africans during peak season and then does not continue with employment during the out of season times.

This is not the first time this establishment has done this to workers from South Africa.

Because they, as employees, rely on both salaries AND living accommodation, it puts them in a very vulnerable position as they relied on their employer for absolutely everything.

Even though our friends followed the advice and the procedure of getting their contract in Portuguese from the employer, it seems that the employer neglected to get the required work visa's as promised.

To cut a long story short, our friends Passports were confiscated by authorities as they were deemed illegal workers AND the Employer not only cancelled their contract but also forced them to sign a lease for accommodation, knowing full well that they were in a terrible position of now not having a job and passports confiscated due to heavy fines that need to be paid.

They are currently being helped by the local church and some very kind people that are in Mozambique as they are jobless, not allowed to work and also owing fines to get back passports due to the.... Negligence of the Employer that hired them dubiously.

We are appealing for help. Any amount please.... .. It all helps.

Because this is not the first time this employer has done this to South African job seekers, our friends would like to make sure that this employer does not put anyone else in this terrible predicament EVER again.

1. FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR LEGAL LABOUR FEES. (they have a strong case)

2. FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR ASSISTANCE TO GET THEIR PASSPORTS BACK.

3. FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO ASSIST THEM WITH LIVING EXPENSES, SCHOOLING AND ALL THE MONTHLY PAYMENTS THAT THEY ARE COMMITTED TO BUT CAN NOT PAY, DUE TO THIS WHOLE UNFORTUNATE PREDICAMENT THAT THEY FIND THEMSELVES IN.

4. POSSIBLE SUPPORT TO GET BACK ON THEIR FEET OR TO ACTUALLY GET BACK TO CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA.
