In this workshop we will be introduced to the wonderful life of the Cape Honey Bee - Apis mellifera capensis

Discover what makes her so special and how efficient she is at harvesting and storing our beautiful endemic fynbos and wildflower honey. We will discuss the hive components and cover all you need to know to begin keeping your own swarm of bees and gain a better understanding of the honey production and the importance of bees in the eco system.

We visit the apiary site and inspect the hives and have look for that elusive Queen Bee.

This workshop does not include a honey harvest but we may be lucky enough to find some wild honeycomb. The honey harvesting workshop will be a continuation of this workshop
