ABOUT

Hosted by The Albert Luthuli Centre for Responsible Leadership (ALCRL). In association with the British High Commission of Pretoria and PwC.

In 2015, Globescan and SustainAbility voted Unilever as the most sustainable brand.

Considering that Unilever is perceived to be a sustainable brand; the first project entails workshops where the question of whether Unilever is indeed a sustainable enterprise will be investigated.

An in depth case study of Unilever was developed, including the following:
  • The 2014 annual report
  • Analysis of how the annual report speaks to the International <IR> Framework
  • The 2014 Unilever Summary of Progress (On it’s Sustainable Living Plan)
  • The 2015 Human rights report
  • The Unilever Sustainable Living Plan
  • Website content
  • Unilever in the media
This case will be presented in the form of a workshop

Outcomes of this workshop will be the following:
  • How does Unilever incorporate environmental and social issues into its strategy?
  • How does Unilever report on these issues?
  • Is Unilever on track to meet its ambitious goals?
  • Has Unilever managed to discover the Holy Grail by combining an aggressive growth strategy with the principles of sustainable development?
  • How to analyse other integrated reports and consider these issues in different contexts.
This workshop is also intended to give participants an idea of the type of engagements that they may expect should they enroll for the Post Graduate Diploma in Integrated Reporting.
