CTYC a capella Concert

Tue Aug 18, 19:30 - Tue Aug 18, 21:15

Bishop's Memorial Chapel

ABOUT

CTYC in concert with the Junges Vokalensemble Hannover, a wonderful youth choir from Germany that won the mixed choir section of the 2015 Montreux Choral Festival. We are very excited to hear their programme!

CTYC repertoire will include Canticum Calamitatis Maritimae (Jaakko Mantyjarvi), a wonderful African American Spiritual (“Great God Almighty”), a moving piece by UCT composer Martin Watt (“O sacrum convivium”), indigenous folk songs (Ukuthula and Homeless) and two wonderful pieces by UCT composer Hendrik Hofmeyr (“Spokewals” and Afrikaans folk song “Al lê die berge nog so blou”). The second piece is very special to us as it is accompanied by solo violin which will be played by Lieva Starker, currently studying in Birmingham.

The concert will go ahead in case of load shedding (remember to bring a torch :) )
