I WANT TO SPONSOR / GET INVOLVED / SELL MY STUFF
If you would like to sponsor the event, donate, advertise, sell produce or sports equipment, we are very open to ideas. The GoukouTri is, first and foremost a friends, family and community event - we welcome all ideas. Please contact [email protected]
We are inviting and catering for anything between 50 and 300 competitors across both the individual and team sections and both distances. Owing to the uncertainty brought on by Covid-19, Government Lockdown and Alert Levels and the fact that this is the first year the event is public, it is difficult to speculate on participant numbers.
Category winners, podium finishers and lucky draw winners can look forward to modest prizes including wine, farm produce and sports equipment - this is not the race to put you into comfortable retirement.
WHAT FACILITIES ARE AVAILABLE AT THE RACE VENUE?
The race will be held at River Mist Farm (34°18'36.9"S 21°19'51.8"E) in the Gou Kou River Valley, Stilbaai. There will be a campsite where there are ablution blocks and campsites available. Designated parking areas will be made available to all ticket holding competitors and spectators
If you would like to book a campsite, please email: [email protected]
WHAT FOOD/DRINK IS AVAILABLE AT THE RACE VENUE?
We have a foodtruck coming that will provide boerewors rolls, hamburgers, chips.
Attendees and athletes have access to cooking and braai facilities.
The purchase of general goods such as wood, bread, milk etc. are not available on site but can be purchased in town (+/- 10km away).
Wild Olive Farm (next to Rivermist) caters; other small food vendors have been invited.
PLEASE NOTE No competitors and attendees may bring their own drinks and alcohol.
We have a temporary liquor license for the event allowing us to sell beer and limited drinks from an enclosed bar. The bat accepts cash and card payment.
Right of Admission Strictly Reserved.
WHAT TIME WILL THE PRIZEGIVING CELEBRATION FINISH?
Due to covid-19 regulations, we have a hard curfew of midnight. Last round at the Beer Tent will be 11pm, venue will be vacated at 11:30pm. The Gou Kou River Valley is a quiet and idyllic venue and we will try, where possible, to keep noise pollution to a minimum.
SWIM: CAN ATHLETES WEAR WET SUITS IN THE LONG SWIM?
Yes. The River is tidal and quite warm, wet suits are optional.
SWIM: ARE SWIM CAPS PROVIDED FOR THE SWIMMERS?
No. Swim caps are compulsory - please bring your own swim cap
IS IT A MOUNTAIN BIKE OR A ROAD BIKE COURSE?
The bike leg takes place on (at times very) rough gravel roads - there is no single track. The road is very hilly and deeply rutted. Mountain bikes are recommended; gravel bikes may be appropriate. Though permitted, lunatics piloting road bikes will be laughed at.
CAN WE DRAFT ON THE BIKE LEG?
Yes, but don’t be selfish, share the load.
WILL TRI-BARS AND TRI-BIKES BE ALLOWED?
Yes. You can race on whatever bicycle takes your fancy (e-bikes, will frowned upon and times not official)
