The first orchestra in South Africa to brave the new “normal”, the Capital Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Schalk van der Merwe. Our musicians finally came together after almost three months of isolation, set the orchestra up according to government regulation, and braved the new world of classical music concerts for the foreseeable future. We hope our viewers enjoy this new approach to the virtual orchestra. Our programme consists of South African works, something more well known by the ever dependable Handel, and the first recording made outside of Finland of Madetoja’s Elegy Op. 4 No. 1 since it’s composition in 1909.
