Join a virtual Zoom discussion, titled Women in Conversation, this Women’s Day with featured speakers Ms Hlengiwe Luca Ochan – Mrs Africa Globe 2019, and Ms Christina Nomdo – the Western Cape Children’s Commissioner.


Under the umbrella of the global Generation Equality campaign, this inter-generational dialogue contributes to an international focus on collective change-makers, across ages and genders, in tackling the continued fight for women empowerment.

About the speakers


HLENGIWE LUCIA OCHAN: “The Role of Women in Society: women’s financial and economic inclusion”

Hlengiwe Lucia Ochan is Mrs. Africa Globe 2019. She was also recently awarded the ‘Inspirational Woman of the Year’ award at the 4th Annual Sunrise Women Award 2019 which took place in her home province of Mpumalanga. Mrs. Ochan is also a businesswoman, owner of the OT Deyo Med Aesthetic Clinic, founder and patron of the Lucia O Foundation, and participates on numerous councils and chambers within the community.


CHRISTINA NOMDO: “Children’s Participation in Governance”


Christina Nomdo is a children’s Commissioner and has also served as the child rights specialist Commissioner on the National Planning Commission (NPC) for the last 4 years. During this time, she has conducted a child participation initiative to get feedback directly from children about how the National Development Plan (NDP) should be reviewed to include the perspectives of children. Therefore, in 2017 and 2018, Christina worked with government and civil society partners in the children’s sector to conduct workshops with children in all nine provinces of South Africa.
