WHAT IS EDITIONS Cape Town?
EDITIONS Cape Town was formed by Gary Cotterell and Zhané Warren to promote editions and multiple art from international and local print publishers, print studios, dealers, galleries and artists. Although grounded in the processes of traditional printmaking, EDITIONS Cape Town is a sophisticated cultural experience that displays the synthesis and contemporary context of editions, which now encompasses a wide range of media from prints to photography, artist books and 3D multiples, to video.

EDITIONS Cape Town is unique in revealing the particular shared qualities of editions. The viewer sees that an artwork occurs through the collaborative relationship of the publisher, printer and artist with an emphasis on production. The production usually results in highly crafted and well-realised artworks, made available to collectors through editions. For buyers, editions are quite often more affordable but no less collectable.

SATELLITE of WARREN EDITIONS
The Satellite event will be dedicated to a collaboration created specifically for Open Design, between the artist Katherine Bull and Warren Editions. Bull will engrave images onto suspended perspex sheets while a moving image is projecting through the translucent surface of the plastic. The artist will distill the moving image by separating it into the four process colours – yellow, magenta, cyan and key (black). These will become the matrices of colour combination proofs, pulled by printers with a press in the satellite studio set up by Warren Editions. The matrices will be printed by blending the four process colours to form a full chroma of the used moving image. In addition, Bull will carve painted marks of the four process colours onto blocks. The images will be deconstructed from a moving image of a movie shown on a television set.
