ABOUT

KenFac CAN, is a subgroup of Cape Town Together Community Action Network (CTT CAN). This group was created as a response to the COVID 19 Pandemic. Although we are now in lockdown Level 3, we are acutely aware that the worst of the pandemic is still to come with people returning to school and work. As a collective KenFac CAN continues seeing to its original vision of keeping the Kensington and Factreton community safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our group has been overwhelmed by the generosity of spirit bestowed on our community from businesses and community members. We maintain dignity and build self-reliance;

hence we have not focused on taking photographs of recipients, but we would like to reassure the community that all donations have been accounted for and distributed to its intended beneficiaries.

Where photographs were taken, consent was sought from participants. Photographs were taken when they were an occasional requirement of donors or as part of documenting a visual history of the KenFac CAN project.

We are excited to share that we have activated 14 Solidarity Kitchens across the community. These kitchens are run by community members who showed initiative and were already cooking for the children or people in need in their surrounds. KenFac CAN supplies them with basic ingredients so that they can cook and this project needs ongoing support and fundraising.

We have identified 5 Solidarity Kitchens who have keen gardeners and who are interested in starting Solidary Gardens. The aim is for the community to start growing vegetables and herbs for their meals. Anyone able to assist with gardening advice, resources, plants, seedlings and time please connect with us.

It’s important for us to continue to fundraise for these community projects and therefore ask for your support by donating to our online fundraising drive today.
