ABOUT

Dare To Lead™ : A Courage-building programme

“Who we are is how we lead”

Dr. Brené Brown is waking up the world with her research on growing brave leaders and more courageous cultures.

Her research reveals that daring leaders cultivate cultures in which brave work, tough conversations, and whole hearts are the expectation.

We are living and leading in extraordinarily vulnerable times. It takes courage to create psychologically safe and brave spaces for people to thrive in.

The skill sets that make up courage are not new; they’ve been aspirational leadership skills for as long as there have been leaders. We just haven’t had the courage for real talk about courage. But it’s time.

Aneshrie Yasar has been taught and certified by Brené Brown and is bringing this research to organisations and schools in South Africa. We’re on a mission to re-humanize workplaces – to help people reframe their relationship with vulnerability and to lead from a place of authentic courage.

Dare To Lead™ is an experiential workshop based on Brené’s research and her New York Times #1 Bestseller. The goal of Dare to Lead™ is to share everything Dr Brown has learned about taking off the armour and showing up with courage in a skills-based and actionable workshop and playbook.

This programme is your invitation to become a braver leader as you learn the four empirically-proven skills sets of courageous leadership.

Why Courage … Why now?

These uncertain times are calling us to be braver and to remember our humanity. Because without courage, shame flourishes.

Based on the research across industries and countries, we’ll delve into how shame shows up in organisations, what the number one shame trigger is for people in the workplace today, and what suffers as a result. A culture that's defined by scarcity, fear and uncertainty requires building courage skills, which are uniquely human. Re-humanizing work requires courage.

Who should attend?

Brené defines a leader as “anyone who takes responsibility for finding the potential in people and processes and has the courage to develop that potential."

There’s something here for anyone who is pursuing wholehearted leadership in their organization, professional or personal life - business leaders, educational leaders, specialists, and human capital partners who supports leadership development, learning and culture transformation.

What is Dare to Lead™?

Dare to Lead™ is a courage-building programme which focuses on a collection of four skill sets that are teachable, measurable, and observable.

  • Rumbling with Vulnerability:

Daring leaders understand that vulnerability is our most accurate measure of courage. In this training we learn about vulnerability and why it’s the path to courage. We enrich our emotional literacy by working with shame, empathy and self-compassion. Then we delve into armoured leadership versus daring leadership, grounded confidence and rumbling skills.

  • Living into our Values:

Daring leaders identify and operationalize the values that are most important to them personally and their organizations. We will identify the values most important to us and how to make those values come alive at work and beyond. Against the backdrop of values, we work with giving engaged feedback and recognising defensiveness in feedback conversations

  • BRAVING Trust:

Daring leaders understand that trust is the foundation of everything. We will learn how to build, maintain and repair high trust relationships using seven elements.

  • Learning to Rise:

Daring leaders know that if we are brave enough often enough, we will fall. We will learn the resilience skills of how to reality check the stories we tell ourselves, how to get back up after a fall and rewrite a brave new ending.

Aneshrie Yasar will be your guide as you learn and practice these skills with your cohort of daring leaders and get the learning “in your bones”. You’ll leave with practical, actionable skills and mindsets to lead courageously and wholeheartedly. These skillsets will provide you with the techniques for increased resilience in yourself, and your organization.
