ABOUT

A ticket to this event will afford you a seat in the audience of a double bill production by Jungle Theatre, a Muizenberg-based company that was established as an NPO in 2004. The aim of JTC is to inspire and empower disadvantaged children & youth to make positive changes in their lives and build a peaceful and vibrant South Africa!

Dassie’s Tale, an isiXhosa folktale suitable for Foundation phase learners, is set in ancient times when the earth was created. All the animals embarked on the journey to share their talents. However, Dassie was too lazy to make the effort and learned an important lesson about working hard and being honest.

Mantis and the Bee is based on a folktale of the San people. It is a visual, musical and humorous exploration of /Xam mythology and the origin of life. Join an action-adventure into a world before the earth was created. Discover the magic hidden inside the stories of the first people.

JTC’s professional artistic team from diverse communities draw on South Africa’s cultural heritage and indigenous languages to find connections to the environment and human nature, creating and performing original accessible African children’s theatre shows that bring together music, dance, masks, puppets, clowning and storytelling.

Tickets are R100 and children 3 years and younger enter for free. There will be a 30 minute interval between shows and food will be available for purchase.

By supporting this show, you are also supporting Imhoff Waldorf School - a community school with sponsorship programme for 10% of students.
