King’s Blockhouse IPA
The King’s Blockhouse IPA is not only rated as the best beer in South Africa by the taste masters at ratebeer.com, but also by pretty much everyone who samples it’s bold hoppiness. Our flagship IPA has won best beer on show at the 2011, 2012 and 2014 Cape Town Festival of Beer, the 2014 Johannesburg Festival of Beer – and was the  winner of the 2014 SAB Craft Brewer Championship.

The King’s Blockhouse IPA is the closest thing you’ll get to a West Coast style IPA in South Africa. It’s a decidedly bitter and fruit driven beer with huge flavour and aromatics.

It’s not for the faint hearted, but it is a truly delicious beer.
We named it after the King’s Blockhouse – a historic military blockhouse on Devil’s Peak, built during the British occupation of Cape Town in 1796.

First Light Golden Ale
First Light Golden Ale is our take on an approachable, easy drinking session ale – the perfect beer companion for any occasion. Once you’ve had one, you’ll be hooked.

We named it First Light because the slopes of Devil’s Peak – being to the east of the Cape Town city bowl – are the first to receive the sun’s golden light in the morning.

If you’re nervous about drinking craft ales, First Light Golden Ale is a great introduction. It’s what we like call our gateway beer because of its light, easy drinking nature. If you’re into lagers, this is the closest thing we currently offer.

Woodhead Amber Ale
Our take on the “Red Ale” of the United States’ Pacific Northwest, the Woodhead Amber Ale is as delicious as it is beautiful. A slightly hoppier finish than is typical of many South African examples which leads to superior sessionability.

Woodhead is the name of one of the five dams built on Table Mountain at the turn of the 20th century to supply water to Cape Town. A landmark and feat worthy of continued recognition.

Silvertree Saison
Originating in Wallonia, the French speaking area of Belgium, this summer seasonal came to South African shores for the first time through our crisp and refreshing Silvertree. Bottle conditioned for exceptional smoothness, our Saison is a farmhouse ale brewed in the traditional style. It also forms the base for many of barrel aged, specialty beers.

Silvertree was named after the beautiful and endangered Silvertrees (Leucadendron argenteum) which still grow wild on the slopes of Devil’s Peak.
