Nate Maingard's Farewell Gig (in Cape Town)

In a barn in Hout Bay, with fire burning and gluhwein warming us up from the inside, I will play for you my heart's music and stories. Songs and fairy tales and truths; mysteries, ancient wisdom and mythical symbolism; raw magic and open-hearted vulnerability; incorrigible bounciness and unfettered celebration...nothing more and nothing less than uncompromising humanness. Come and relax in an extremely intimate environment for my final show in South Africa (until I return, which may be 3 months or 3 years, I have no idea but I have a one way ticket). Opening the evening will be the inimitable Shotgun Tori (http://www.facebook.com/ShotgunTori), whose music is brutally honest and unavoidably catchy. She's a barefoot gypsy raven with the voice of a fallen angel doing everything she can to dream herself some darkly glistening, feathered wings again...and doing super well as far as I can tell! There will definitely be some surprise musical appearances...one of them may even be my dad (a songwriter, musician and harmonica player who has been inspiring me for 28 years).
