Welcome to a culinary journey through the heart of Japan! In this class, part of our world cuisine series, will immerse you in the elegant simplicity and profound depth of Japanese cooking. This cuisine is celebrated for its emphasis on seasonal ingredients, meticulous presentation, and a balance of flavours that bring harmony to every dish.
The Class Format:
- Each class highlights a different cuisine/style
- Popular cultural culinary experiences
- Mix of simple & sophisticated dishes
- Classes capped at 2.5 hours
- Cooking stations in pairs - cook & plate together (sharing feast) or individual main + dessert
The Class Structure:
- Two themed canapés & a non-alcoholic welcome drink on arrival
- Hands-on main course preparation from scratch
- Dessert prepared by hosts, plated by guests
- Emphasis on entertainment, education, & connection
- The Class is open to all ages & skill levels

About Your Hosts
Food Jams CASA is a Non Profit Organisation that provides quality, subsidised, internationally accredited education, mentorship and opportunities to marginalised and previously disadvantaged communities. CASA Class of 2024 consists of professional hosts who are well known for their energised social cooking events, called Food Jams in Salt River & Woodstock. All proceeds of this cooking class goes to the sponsorship of the student tuition at the Culinary Academy South Africa, affording our future culinary stars the support on the journey to their stardom! .
This class is part of a series designed to explore the rich culinary landscapes of the world. It’s a journey not just of tastes, but also of learning and sharing the stories behind these dishes.
