Thu Aug 29, 08:30 - Thu Aug 29, 17:00

ABOUT

DESIGNING_SOUTH AFRICA is interested in igniting a series of design-led innovative solutions through pairing designers with educators, learners, doctors, academics, city managers, mayors, governments, and the global media and other related individuals and institutions. We will explore the transformative power of design in improving the quality of life for all, through global best practice.

Those attending the event will be treated to renowned architect Andrew Makin discussing designing identity, while director of the African Centre for Cities Professor Edgar Pieterse and CEO of the SA Cities Network Sithole Mbanga will engage in a discussion about the importance of good design in city making efforts.

The seminar will also host Thorsten Deckler, principal of 26’10 south Architects who, through his work in urban design, will talk about social housing and “informality” while the CEO of TB/HIV Care Association, Professor Harry Hausler, with 15 years of international public health experience, will examine opportunities for designing improved healthcare.
