Colour Festival - Durban U18

JUNIOR COLOUR FESTIVAL – DURBAN 2013 

South Africa’s most colourful festival returns!

Colour Festival is an electronic dance music festival that incorporates the element of colour powders from the Indian festival of ‘Holi‘ combined with modern electronic dance music showcased by both international and local artists/DJs. 

We will celebrate and promote the diversity of KwaZulu Natal and indeed the city of Durban by producing a dance music festival of international standards. 

The concept: Thousands of patrons, dressed in white, will come together to share in music, dance, performance art and visualizations, with a uniformed ‘colour-splash’ which will take place every hour. After a minimum of 3 ‘colour-splashes’ the audience will be completely covered by the coloured powder, depicting a true ‘rainbow nation’ feel. 

At this point, race/colour cannot be determined and all those in attendance will come together as one. Durban will become the flagship host to an event that will be staged in Port Elizabeth and more cities to be announced. We view this festival as a true ‘nation building’ experience!

VENUE

The festival will be hosted at the Durban Point Waterfront, Parking ‘B’
located next to uShaka Marine World & Moyo.

Please note: This event will not be near any sea life/tanks so there will not be any noise pollution that will affect any inhabitants at the uShaka Marine World.

SAFETY & COMFORT ADVICE

#1: Wear Goggles

Although the colours are completely natural, a pair of goggles or sunglasses helps protect against unnecessary eye irritation.

#2: Apply/Wear Oil & Lotion

The paint will adhere better and it is easier to rinse off later. We also recommend a cap or hat.

#3: Wear Old Clothes

Although the powder can be easily washed out, you should not wear/bring your best clothes with you. 

Tip: You could purchase an original white 'Colour Festival T-Shirts' available for both men and woman.

#4: White Clothes

The colours bear out brightest on white fabric!

#5: Contact Lenses

If possible, rather wear glasses rather than contact lenses as the paint may cause irritation on the contacts.

#6: Close Eyes & Shut Up!

You will you pelted with colored powder, so be sure to keep your eyes and mouth closed at these times.

# 7: Respect Others

If someone does not want to be pelted with powder, please respect their wishes. We would like everyone to enjoy themselves together.

#8: Washing & Removing Colour Powder

The colour powder should be as dry as possible before attempting to wipe it off. Then rinse off with warm water.

#9: Returning Home

Showers will be provided on sight so rinse off, otherwise the ride home will become a mess.
