The #coffeemob Metrorail train transports commuters to the fourth Department of Coffee Open Day in Khayelitsha. This is a direct, exclusive train between Cape Town station and Khayelitsha station.
Department of Coffee is Khayelitsha's first coffee shop and is locally owned by Wongama, Vusumzi and Vuyile. It is situated opposite the bustling Khayelitsha train station. The Open Day is a relaxed, market style environment where guests can enjoy barista made coffees, live music, entertainment & DJ's. Great opportunity for Khayelitsha souvenir shopping, don't miss the local products that will be on sale. We believe in supporting local business! Cyclists are encouraged to bring their bikes on board as they can join an escorted cycle ride by Velokhaya cycling academy around the area and up to Lookout Hill, a great viewpoint over Khayelitsha. If you are not a cyclist, you can catch a taxi at a small fee to Lookout Hill.
The train departs CT station at 09:15 (Platform 12), arrives Khayelitsha at 10:00. The return journey leaves Khayelitsha station at 13:30 and arrives CT station at 14:19.
