Avril Kinsey - Romancing la Guitarra

Award winning classical guitarist Dr. Avril Kinsey has performed and lectured in South Africa, Europe, the USA and the Far East at prestigious venues including London's South Bank Centre, Julliard in New York, and Raffles in Singapore.

Kinsey accompanied the late Luciano Pavarotti with the CPO when he performed in Cape Town. She has recorded 5 albums and composed and authored 3 music books, including her most famous, Guitar Music From Africa,

where she recreates the sounds of bird calls and indigenous African instruments into her compositions. "Evocative, a master-musician of unusual ability." CG

She is a commissioned and published composer with a doctorate in orchestral composition. Kinsey founded The Cape Town Academy of Music where she also lectures. In 2020 she won the WGSA Muse award for her feature film screenplay, The Wild Coast.

In keeping with the beautiful, romantic setting of Bosky Dell, Avril presents a programme of Spanish and romantic guitar music.

The concert also includes music by Bach, Paganini, Lauro, Morel, Pernambuco, Glasser and Kinsey.
